ARENA

The Australian Renewable Agency (ARENA) was established by the Australian Government on the 1st of July 2012 with the intention of improving the competitiveness of Australian renewable energy technologies and increase the supply of renewable energy through innovation that benefits Australian consumers and businesses.

Since its inception, ARENA has delivered $1.77 billion in grant funding, supporting 62 renewable energy projects and facilitating an investment of over $7 billion in Australia’s renewable energy industry.

ARENA’s $2.6 million in funding for Project SHIELD will help energy networks understand how they could manage distributed energy resources and provide new opportunities to increase the solar penetration on existing energy networks.

Key to this Project and ARENA’s philosophy is the sharing of and knowledge between industry and government, in hopes of continual growth throughout the nation as we continue to barrel towards an energy transition. Lessons learned throughout the Project are shared with ARENA and wider industry stakeholders on a regular basis.
